Dr. Monica Faria studied both psychology and zoology at Northern Arizona University (NAU). She then attended the University of Arizona College of Medicine (U of A COM) where she spent time pursuing her medical studies on both the Tucson and Phoenix campuses. Dr. Faria completed an internship in General Surgery at Dartmouth prior to cultivating an interest in the practice of addiction medicine. She completed her psychiatric training at Banner University Medical Center and a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at UCLA-Kern/Cedars Sinai.
Dr. Faria is board-certified in both General and Addiction Psychiatry. She has worked in community health, inpatient residential treatment center settings, and outpatient private practice. As part of her professional development, she regularly attends national and regional conferences related to the treatment of substance use disorders. She also provides lectures to medical students, residents, and fellows on these topics.
Dr. Faria currently serves as President of the Arizona Chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (AzSAM). She regularly finds ways to connect and give back to her community. Her hobbies include running, traveling, and spending time with her dog.
