About Dr. Sorboro

John Sorboro, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist at 2nd Chance Treatment Center, with convenient locations in Phoenix, Glendale, and Gilbert, Arizona. With more than 25 years of experience in both adolescent and adult psychiatry, Dr. Sorboro’s specialties include addiction treatment, particularly methadone services and buprenorphine treatment.

Dr. Sorboro holds certifications with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He is a caring, compassionate physician with a deep understanding of addiction and recovery. 

Above all else, Dr. Sorboro understands that addiction is a disease that requires collaboration between the doctor and patient to overcome. He truly listens to his patients and strives to create the right treatment protocol for them.

A native of Ohio, Dr. Sorboro attended the University of Akron in Ohio, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry. He then earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo. 

During medical school, Dr. Sorboro received honors in medicine, radiology, consultation-liaison psychiatry, child psychiatry, emergency medicine, and neurology. After graduating in 1990, he began a coveted residency position at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Department of Psychiatry and Psychology in Cleveland, Ohio.

In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Sorboro has teaching experience as both an assistant professor and clinical instructor at various universities throughout Ohio.

Dr. Sorboro is proud to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to patients throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and its surrounding communities.
