About Michaela Beaver DNP, PMHNP-BC
Michaela Beaver DNP, PMHNP-BC, is a board- certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. She graduated with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2014 from the University of Iowa.
Michaela is originally from Illinois where she received her BSN. She has an extensive nursing carrier, from a CNA to a registered nurse on an inpatient surgical unit and floating to many departments in the hospital. She moved to Iowa in 2010 and worked in the emergency department while obtaining her DNP.
After graduating, she moved to rural northwest Iowa as an Emergency Room Nurse Practitioner. It was during this time that she saw the need for access to mental health providers and developed a passion for psychiatry. She graduated with her psychiatric and mental health certificate in 2017. She developed a new behavioral health department integrated in primary care at a federally qualified health center and grew it to meet the needs of the patients in the diverse community she served.
She believes in a partnership with her patients where they make decisions together. She uses psychoeducation to help with shared decision making to produce individualized treatment plans. She has experience and enjoys working with children and families, adults, and patients with substance use disorders.
Michaela recently relocated to Arizona with her husband, two energetic boys, and dog. She is excited for the adventures and opportunities living in Arizona. She enjoys being outside, running, biking, hiking, paddle boarding, camping, fishing, hunting, and skiing.
